Lucy qualified as a solicitor in September 2020 having worked for Abbas Media Law since 2017.
Lucy works with and assists both AML’s content and business affairs teams. She has experience of most areas of the law and regulation that affect the publishing and broadcasting of television and other content in the UK, including defamation, copyright, privacy and data protection laws, as well as Ofcom’s and other regulatory codes.
Working alongside AML’s Head of Business Affairs (Television), Lucy works on a wide range of underlying rights agreements including contributor releases and agreements, access agreements, data protection documentation, presenter agreements, writer agreements + many more.
In 2018 Lucy assisted and worked closely with AML’s content team when it successfully overturned a decision by the Information Commissioner’s Office requiring journalistic material belonging to a television production company client, and held by a police authority, to be disclosed to a third party. Since then Lucy has completed a 3 months’ litigation placement working in the London office of international law firm CMS, working in the Litigation and Arbitration team assisting in all aspects of litigation including legal research, drafting legal notes, preparing documents for trial and other general case management tasks.
Lucy is both Production Assistant, and a contributing editor of zoom-in, AML’s quarterly magazine.
