31 Oct DEFAMATION – KIM KARDASHIAN WEST WITHDRAWS LAWSUIT OVER PARIS ROBBERY
Kim Kardashian West began a lawsuit against a gossip website for stating that she faked the Paris robbery in which she lost millions of dollars’ worth of jewellery and was left bound and gagged by her attackers. The defamation suit was filed in New York against Media Take Out and its founder Fred Mwangaguhunga. Media Take Out ran a series of stories claiming she faked the robbery, lied about the violent armed assault and then filed a fraudulent claim with her insurers. The law suit described these as ‘outrageous claims’ and stated that the website had ignored repeated requests for retractions and apologies.
This week she dropped the lawsuit after the website retracted the claims and issued an apology, accepting that there was no doubt the robbery was real and apologising for hurt caused.
