(US) Blac Chyna gets restraining order against Robert Kardashian after ‘revenge porn’ post

Blac Chyna has obtained a restraining order against her ex-fiancé Robert Kardashian, after he posted explicit photographs of her online and accused of her cheating on him. Chyna also alleged that Kardashian had been abusive towards her, allegations which he denied.

Blac Chyna’s attorney, Linda Bloom, said: ‘revenge porn is a form of domestic abuse’ and also referred to that fact that it is a crime to post explicit images without consent and with intent to cause distress in California (where the former couple live) and in other US States. The offence is a misdemeanour in California with a potential penalty of a $1,000 fine or 6 months in prison. Such behaviour is also criminal in the UK under the Crime and Courts Act 2015.

Robert Kardashian’s attorney, Robert Shapiro, said that his client had accepted the terms of the restraining order, and apologised on his behalf. Both parties have said they intend to focus on their daughter, Dream.

Both lawyers in the case are high-profile and have past experience of celebrity legal cases. Linda Bloom acted for Mischa Barton in her recent case over a sex tape which was said to be being offered to the media. Robert Shapiro formed part of OJ Simpson’s legal team, along with Robert Kardashian’s father.

Robert Kardashian’s Instagram account was shut down following the posts. Social media platforms, including Instagram, have recently been under pressure from governments around the world to ensure that they have adequate systems in place to tackle online abuse as well as ‘fake news’ and extremism.
